Eastern Weyr (Old Benden)
Weyrwoman: Threaka of gold Honath
Weyrleader: S'elm of bronze Dardenuth
S'elm has been the Weyrleader of Benden off and on for a little over two decades, and there is no question that his Dardenuth is an obvious favourite of Honath. There have never been any real complaints about the way he manages things by his people, either.
Then again, truth told, it isn't he who manages most things, but Threaka, who has little enough concern for the thoughts of others to be unnerving, and whose governing tactics are iron-fisted at the best of times. Threaka is not only intolerant of failure on the part of her people, but is further intolerant of inconvenience in her life, of any kind. The slightest disobedience is met with swift and unforgiving punishment, and it is absolute fact that her word is law.
That said, aside from the generally overbearing quality of the Weyrwoman, life at Eastern is generally pleasant, if occasionally hard. Tithes, after all, are scarce, these days, and often short.
Western Weyr (Old Fort)
Weyrwoman: Belaraene of gold Moeranath
Weyrleader: T'ben of bronze Eereith
As goldriders go, Belaraene tends toward the very soft. She ascended to the position of Weyrwoman at a tender age and has held that place for over forty turns. The ability she has to maintain such a position despite her generally soft demeanour and her predilection toward anything that pleases her has baffled many people, especially with as often as her Weyrleader changed during the first half of her reign, and Belaraene has never been forthcoming on the matter. It may have something to do with her ability to wilt artfully at will or let silent tears roll down her cheeks without going red and blotchy in the face and an extraordinary skill at manipulation, but nobody would ever dare speak such cruel words where T'ben (or any of her previous Weyrleaders) might hear it.
T'ben has been Belaraene's Weyrleader for almost two decades, a baffling state of affairs after her earlier reign. Those who know the pair well, however, have no problem discerning the reason. T'ben indulges Belaraene's whims, handling all the business she doesn't care to in Weyr management and governing everything for her, while treating her exactly like the fragile glass doll she likes to be treated as. In return for his indulgence of her, she indulges him, and leaves him absolute power over her Weyr. It is a power he does not hesitate to use.
