Harper, tell me of the road...
Username: AgriasNesme
Character Number: 2nd
Crafter:
[/center]Name: Sear (Searhiordan), pronounced 'Sheer'
Age: 34
Birth Season: Summer
Gender: Male
Location: The Collegium
Rank: Master
Craft: Smithcraft
That leads beyond this hold...
Appearance: Sear is quite tall, topping out at 6'6, and is completely bald. Sear is stockily built, maintaining a deep chest and thick, well-muscled arms honed and maintained by years of honest work. Lightly blackened from the heat of the forge, his features crinkle around his eyes and cheekbones, his rounded face hidden by a thick, but well-kept beard and bushy mustache. He frequently wears only his smithing apron, a pair of leather trousers, and boots dyed Smith red. His torso is littered with scars from burns, brawls, and bad form. When he isn't working, he wears his leathers with a simple, black cotton shirt.
That wends its way around the hill...
Personality: Sear is a very well-meaning man, but he is very easy to anger. He takes his craft very seriously, and despises anyone who looks down on smithing or those who perform it. When Sear isn't working, he's especially fond of Benden wines.
Sear prefers to collect the wineskins after the alcohol has been consumed. Sear also enjoys company, and when mixed with wine, he will frequently be heard to tell outrageous stories that everyone knows could never have happened.
Sear is also a very superstitious person, and takes very good care not to anger any dragonrider. While not shy, when he's sober, he's not especially talkative unless he has to be. He cares little for the opinions of others when it comes to his appearance, and attends to it only so that his fire lizard, Forte, isn't overly distressed by the state of his partner's dry hide. Sear is unconcerned with politics, caring only to do his job the best he can, get drunk later on, and spin a few more yarns.
Does it go farther on until...
History: Searhiordan was born in Half-Circle Sea Hold to the resident Journeyman Smith and his mate. While he was young, he attended the Harper's lessons and quickly gained a love of the stories the man would weave of times gone past and times yet to come. When he was old enough, his father showed him how to hammer metal, and taught him how to create the various odds and ends the Sea Holders needed to make their dues while out fishing. As he progressed, his father, Alain, sent him to the Smithcrafthall to proceed, formally Apprenticing him at the age of 12 to Master Smith Cowley.
As time progressed, Sear showed a talent for mixing alloys to result in stronger yields, experimenting with various mixtures until he felt whatever project he was working on was perfect. Forging decorative, but functional, daggers as a hobby, he progressed to Journeyman by the age of 17, and was assigned to Benden Hold where he quickly learned to love his wine. After working towards the needs of both the Hold and Eastern Weyr for three years, Sear reported back to the Smithcrafthall for additional studies, and walked the tables to progress to his Mastery six turns later.
Upon reaching his mastery at the age of 26 Turns, Sear spent most of his time working in the Crafthall teaching the apprentices and performing odd jobs. As time passed, his interest in the new resources available in Lyeunia Island piqued, and he quickly requested that he be sent over to represent the Smithcraft in the Collegium as well as help ready the island for the presence of a Weyr. His request was granted and he was given two journeymen and four apprentices to help. He placed one journeyman in Valshir Hold with two apprentices and the other in Crelek with one apprentice. He took one apprentice to Delant Hold to tutor.
Though he enjoys his work on helping to prepare Bivium Weyr, Sear currently spends most of his time at the Collegium. As the only Master currently representing the Smithcraft, he teaches apprentices and Journeymen to further their studies in his beloved craft. A recent development, Searhiordan has done his best to make friends amidst the other crafters, especially the Cogglers, finding their work fascinating and unique. His favorite pastime, of late, has been helping to forge the various gears and implements required for the Cogglercraft's studies.
It ends in sunset gold?
Pets:
Pet Name:[/b] Forte
Pet Appearance:[/b] Nearly as large as a bronze fire lizard, Forte is as sleek as his partner. That is to say, he's thick of chest and broad, especially for a fire lizard. His brown hide is dark, uniformly tanned to the point that, unless freshly oiled, he rarely has any form of sparkle or shimmer to him. His features, however, are as happy and mirthful as his master's.
Pet Personality: Forte is serious, for a fire lizard, though not lazy. He prefers to help his partner in any way he can, frequently chewing firestone to aid in his partner's work. He enjoys meeting people, and, a very good judge of character, enjoys nuzzling people he trusts. Chirpy almost to the point of annoyance, he likes to trill and creel when he hears a Harper's playing, trying to match the music. He prefers to be handfed, and is far from picky as to who does the feeding, but he'll only sleep when he's curled up near or on Sear's body.
Pet Name:[/b] Gospel
Pet Appearance:[/b] Gospel is a large brown flitter, closer in size to a bronze than his 'sibling', Forte. Strongly built, and certainly not as sleek as Forte, his extremities are especially broad, including his muzzle. This lends him a rather mischievous, moreso when he is seen from above. His colouration tends to the lighter side of brown, leading his partner to joke that he couldn't decide whether he wanted to be bronze or brown in his egg. A white starburst is visible immediately between his wings, perfectly symmetrical as to the centerline of his strong body.
Pet Personality: Gospel is extremely serious, especially for a fire lizard, and rarely engages in the wheeling games of his cousins and siblings. His mind, limited as it is, centers around Searhiordan and Forte. He will occasionally play, normally when Forte is in a rambunctious mood, but he prefers to remain close to his partner. Stronger and larger than Forte, Gospel is capable of assisting Sear by taking messages or even the occasional small package for him between to a recipient within the Collegium. He cannot do this too often, however, as it does tire him, despite the fact that he desires to do so as often as Sear needs him to.
