In the event that you win a prize you do not want from the advent calendar, you have a few options.
1) You can give it to another member.
There's no gain for you, but in the spirit of giving, does that matter? You can give your prizes away. Just let us know, in the bank, who you're transferring your prize to, and we'll take care of it.
2) You can sell it to another member.
This requires some effort on your part to both find a buyer and work out a price, but it gives you a chance to get rid of an unwanted prize, make a little something for it, and help out your fellow members.
3) You can sell it to the bank.
PORTRAITS cannot be sold to the bank.
All other prizes can be sold to the bank at-price. If you win, for instance, a piece of simple art (net value: 5 marks) or a large egg (net value: 35 marks) and you don't want it, you can sell it back to the bank. To do this, simply post in the bank that you'd like to sell advent prizes back to the bank, along with a list of the prizes. Your bank account will be credited the value of the prizes you're selling. All prizes sold this way will then become available for purchase from the official shop at a 15% reduced cost. Note that the seller is not eligible to buy the same item back from the shop, but is both welcome and encouraged to buy others. For instance, if Lilacdew won a large egg she didn't want, and I won a simple art I didn't want, we could both sell these back to the bank, meaning that one large egg and one simple art would be available for purchase from the shop at a 15% reduced cost. I could then buy that large egg that Lilac sold, but if I later decided I wanted a simple art, I would have to buy a new one, even if 4 other people sold theirs back, too. I wouldn't be eligible to buy one of those until mine (and, therefore, all five) of those sold.
EXCEPTION: If more than 50% of the members who win a certain prize sell one to the bank, none of them will be available at reduced cost. Instead, the regular price on that item will be temporarily reduced by 15%, making it possible for any member, even one who sold it, to buy a given item at the reduced price for a time.
