That leads beyond this hold...
Appearance: At first glance, Taejinn looks like any typical Pernese citizen. He stands at the respectable height of 5’11, and while he doesn’t have an incredibly strong build, he’s far from being long and lanky. Despite his height, Taejinn is surprisingly light on his feet. His sense of balance is superb, and he’ll almost never trip over his own two feet.
Taejinn keeps his brown-black hair cut short, never allowing it to grow past his shoulder, although he’ll allow his bangs to grow out constantly, almost as if he’s not sure how he wants them. What truly makes Taejinn stand out is his choice in clothing. He’s a lover of wearing clothes in bright, eye-catching colors, although it seems as though he favors blues and greens the most. While he has a habit of buying new clothes whenever possible, there’s one thing that he refuses to let go of: his favorite black boots. Feeling as though they’re the most comfortable thing in his wardrobe, Taejinn will easily admit that it is his footwear of choice.
That wends its way around the hill...
Personality: Taejinn is a strange individual. There is absolutely no question about it.
To anyone who might be meeting him for the very first time, Taejinn might seem like an incredibly serious young man. If given a task, he’ll concentrate solely on it until it’s complete, and will encourage others to do the same. Not at all confident in his abilities, Taejinn does everything to the best of his ability and is careful about the little details, as he doesn’t want to be a liability to those around him. Workaholic nature aside, when Taejinn has free time on his hands, it’s almost like a switch flips. It’s when he can do what he wants that he shows his true colors. Oddly enough, Taejinn is actually a lover of everything fun, and has been described by some as an adrenaline junkie.
It’s when Taejinn is with children that he has the most fun. A goofball through and through, one of Taejinn’s favorite activities will always include playing with weyrbrats. His big-brother complex often gets the best of him, as he’s likely to be found with the smallest of children, especially with the ones who seem as though they have no friends. Knowing what it’s like to feel alone, Taejinn doesn’t like it when he thinks that someone is lonely. In his own words, it breaks his heart. Everyone deserves a friend, and it’s Taejinn’s goal to be a friend to everyone.
Fiercely loyal to those who seem to find their way to him, overly affectionate to anyone he may like, and quick to defend, Taejinn has almost gotten into fist fights over small comments directed at those he loves. He doesn’t do this in order to be a pain to these people. He merely does it because he was taught to always put the safety of others before himself. It was something that his father taught him, and it is something that he allowed to shape his life.
Yet, despite all of the smiles and good humor, there always seems to be something that’s just a little bit off with Taejinn. It can be seen when he’s staring out in space, deep in thought. It’s almost as though he’s fighting a constant feeling of loneliness. If asked, he would merely shrug it off. As long as he’s still breathing, then there’s nothing to be concerned about.
Does it go farther on until...
History: Taejinn’s life was pretty much a blur of eighteen years of rather uninteresting events… At least, that’s how Taejinn feels. He was born to T’kyl and Nijinna as a result of dragonlust, and was passed off to a crèche worker almost as soon as he was named. Although he was raised in the crèche along with other weyrbrats, his parents always made an effort to visit him, and eventually his younger sister. T’kyl was sure to tutor him diligently in the proper ways to treat those around him, passing on to him a strict code of ethics. If there was something that T’kyl wanted for his son, it was for him to grow up into a respectable young man.
Taejinn did grow up much like T’kyl had hoped for. Even after his passing, Taejinn continued to live by this peculiar code of ethics. It wound up shaping his life, as Taejinn often stuck his neck in places it didn’t belong for the sake of others, no matter how he felt about the situation. Despite being so young, he grew to protect those younger than he… especially Nijae, his younger sister. Sometimes, Taejin wondered if Nijae was more trouble than she was worth. The girl was so feisty that she always got into sticky situations, and whenever there seemed to be a fight on the way, Taejinn was sure to intervene on her behalf. There was no way he wouldn’t. He was her big brother, and it was his duty to protect her.
Being a big brother shaped his life, obvious by the way he spent so much time with children. He enjoyed how happy-go-lucky they always were and whenever he wasn’t chasing after Nijae, he would be playing with children.
Eventually, it became time for him to make a decision about his life. As a weyrbrat, it was his right to stand, and he took it. His decision, though spurred by the memory of his father and everything he stood for, was something that he took pride in. He sincerely wished to be a dragonrider. Constantly, he and Nijae would present themselves to the clutches, and time and time again they would be rejected. As time went on, many of Taejinn’s friends Impressed. It almost seemed as though he and Nijae were the only ones remaining in their circle of friends who had yet to Impress.
The constant rejections started to get to him. Seeing his few friends with their dragons started to wear him down. Nijae seemed to be the only one who noticed, and suggested a change in scenery for them both. The two of them decided to move to the newly founded Bivium Weyr, with both praying for the chance to Impress.
For Taejinn, this new chance meant everything to him.
Standing at the hatching was absolutely unnerving, but Taejinn took everything with a smile. It was when he was one of the last ones standing, with only the Gold, a Bronze, and a dud egg was when he had a feeling that he wasn't going to Impress... until Ozydith saw him, ran to him, and literally headbutted him. It was unexpected, and yet it was so amazing. He would no longer alone; not while he had Ozydith. Although he wasn't sure if he could be a rider Ozydith could be proud of, the hatchling's confidence quelled all of T'jinn's fears. Ozydith seemed absolutely positive that T'jinn was everything he wanted. T'jinn could only look forward to his new future as a dragonrider, and vow to do his best in everything.
