Username: Lilacdew
Character Number: 1st
Name: Syreaka
Age: 18
Birth Season: Spring
Gender:Female
Location: Bivium Weyr
Rank: Candidate
Candidate for: Dragon
That leads beyond this hold...
Appearance: Of a middling stature, Syreaka is the type that when she walks, the pride oozes off her. Her head tends to be erect, and her silvery grey eyes are always alert. Her skin is of a fair hue that is slightly tanned. Her frame is a bit wiry, slender and fit for the athleticism that tends to be expected in candidates. Her straight blue-black hair is often secured in a stylish manner and shines with a glossy health that hangs down to the middle of her back when loose. The type of woman who could go anywhere she chooses, she's often in impressive clothing that matches the need.
That wends its way around the hill...
Personality: Syreaka is the type that was raised to impress. To her, appearances are important. She finds it imperative to remember that appearances do matter and she needs to be ready to look the part expected of her. If there is a meeting, she will look stunning. If there is training, she will arrive ready but practically dressed and without a hair out of place. That is just how she was raised.
Thanks to her lineage, Syreaka learned one thing. You can only truly depend on yourself. Other people could not be counted upon with the important things. Her own parents taught her this lesson. Unfortunately, this belief lead Syreaka to a mentality where she is always ready to be disappointed and plans around it. It made times difficult for her, because it grew increasingly difficult to ask for help in some things. If anyone else decides to jump in and help her without her say, she might be grateful, but she'll hide it behind a bristling temper. Syreaka is independant, strong and reliable. For her, this is incredibly important. After all, when someone else flakes out on her or runs away, she can just deal with the problem herself.
Does it go farther on until...
History:
The daughter of Threaka, Weyrwoman of Eastern, and S'elm, the Weyrleader, Syreaka had a lot to live up to from the day she was born. Threaka was a sometimes interested mother, but S'elm insisted that Syreaka rise to become a dragon rider. After all, her parents were. Thus she should be, too.
Because of this, Syreaka began to follow the training to become such. She learned how to care for dragons, their anatomy and how to take care of their pain. She learned how to make numbweed paste and other home remedies, how to sew wounds together and which wounds required a more specialized healer, weyr management, bookkeeping, equipment repair and how to handle things for herself. Threaka, herself, insisted that her daughter become an expert in such things. After all, if her highly independant, powerful and amazing mother could, why could Syreaka not?
This learning was something Syreaka hadn't questioned. To her, this was something that was necessary. When she was old enough, she'd be placed before a clutch with possibly a golden egg and rise as a Weyrwoman at her mother's side.
However, her parents began to make promises they continually broke like promises for personal training sessions, picnics, gathering herbs and various other things. This only served to cause Syreaka to become more self dependent, believing she couldn't rely on those who were her blood.
Finally, the first hatching she was placed in front of came. She was 14 at the time and there was a golden egg upon the sands. The dragon had gone straight to another girl, never giving Syreaka a second glance.
After that hatching, Syreaka finally realized it. She was lonely, and began hiding in her studies. She internalized much of the pain, becoming someone who had a hard time expressing it. It was then that her parents came to her with a gift.
They presented Syreaka with a firelizard egg. They told her that it was to be a test of her skills, a true showing that she would understand and be able to take care of a dragon. With that in mind, Syreaka immediately cared for that egg with all she had. Not only was it a test, but to her, it was a confidence builder. Look at what all she could do and achieve on her own!
By the time the egg hatched, Syreaka was completely ready. From the egg, a little green lizard hatched and the girl quickly acted to catch the babe and feed it. It wasn't long before the firelizard was impressed, and a charmed Syreaka named it Deltra.
In the days that passed, Syreaka could be found with her lizard all around the weyr. That lizard was a friend, the thing to brighten her days, and the little green helped the girl to open up and learn how to make a few friends. Here and there, Syreaka began to learn about people, and it helped her infinitely. It helped to teach her how undependable some were, and how others reacted under certain circumstances. And when the announcement that Bivium would be opening came, Syreaka was not surprised when Threaka and S'elm approached her with that all too familiar gleam in their eyes.
Once more, her parents wanted something from their child, She was to go as a candidate to the golden egg they were sending, and she had better stand proudly there. Syreaka agreed, deciding it was time to go out there and prove herself. She had the training, and she was strong. She didn't need anybody or anything to get there. With that, she was soon taken to Bivium, her resolutions under her belt and held close to her heart.
It ends in sunset gold?
Pets: Green Firelizard
Pet Name: Deltra
Pet Appearance: A slender firelizard, Deltra is a bit longer than most greens are. With her elongated wings and tail, she is be the perfect option for a quick dive in and out. Her hide shines with a health found in only well cared for firelizards, and it gravitates between a very light green and blue to provide her with an almost marble-like and ethereal appearance.
Pet Personality: An energetic firelizard indeed, Deltra tends to be found wherever Syreaka is. She's constantly interested in the things about her, and if she hasn't seen it yet, she will. She can often be found chittering due to being a very vocal firelizard, but if Syreaka says the word and the firelizard is silent as a mouse, attempting to hide beneath her mistress's hair.
Pet color: Gold
Pet Name: Ciri
Pet Appearance: A strong and large gold for her kind, Ciri is a rich golden hue. Her muscled body possesses a slender elegance, and she often holds her head cocked in a regal manner. The light highlights her body in a way that only makes the dark hues appear even richer and deeper save for the appearance of a striking, bright yellow sunburst that marks her back, the lightning-like tendrils striking out and stretching along the edges of her back. The queen's chest is deep, her wings broad and arched in an elegant manner while her tail is slender enough to wrap about Syreaka's neck at need for balance.
Pet Personality: Ciri is everything a queen should be. Imperious, proud, intelligent and protective. In fact, very protective. If one thought that Deltra was hard to deal with, Ciri takes it to a whole new level. If her mistress is in danger, Ciri is there. If Syreaka is slighted, Ciri is the first to respond. It's the little lizard's dedication that marks her above the rest, and there are few times the lizard will stand to be away from her mistress. As long as Syreaka feels uncertainty, Ciri will be there to make sure the woman is protected. Others may attempt to feed the gold or pet her, but unless Syreaka reassures her it's ok, it won't happen. This little lizard is a one-woman kind of creature.
Are there any colours you will not accept? I'm pretty easy going! I'd prefer not to have a green for her, but that is subject to alteration..
Are there any colours you would prefer? Why? I would prefer a gold for this character for she was built and raised for that moment. She was trained to be a leader, and sent down the path to strive for the originality and forward strides for complete independence. For her, this is achieved by making it to the top.
Canon-only? No
Queen-only? This is a candidate for a Queen, but that's not to say she can't impress another thing!
