A lot of sites have a banking system, so many of you may already be familiar with how they generally work, but this will serve as an overview of exactly how the bank system will work here on Shards of Glass.
Each player has a bank. If you look in the BANK THREAD, you'll find it there. This is where you post to claim marks, transfer marks, or notify the administration of an expenditure. Until we update the main post and delete your claim, your marks have not been credited to or debited from your account.
Marks can be earned in a variety of ways. Take a look at THE MARK LIST for a list of how to do it. Members are welcome and encouraged to PM administrators with suggestions for additions to the ways marks can be earned, so if you think of something you don't see on the list, please don't hesitate to let us know!
Marks can be used for both in-character and out-of-character purchases. This means that if you wish to buy a new firelizard from the Shards of Glass main shop for a character you don't have yet, an out-of-character purchase, as well as have your leatherworker buy a supply of particularly beautiful skins from a trapper, both of these purchases come out of your bank, so it's wise to be careful how much you spend and how quickly, or you may find yourself lacking marks when you need them. However, they are fairly easy to earn, so don't be afraid to spend them when you want to. You can always make it up, later.
In character purchases must take into consideration the source of income. Most characters earn a stipend or have a paying job, and that will provide for the vast majority of purchases, but if your drudge is buying an embroidered velvet feast gown, you had best be able to explain how she came up with the marks for a purchase like that. Explanations don't need to be elaborate, but they do need to be plausible. The rule of thumb is simply to try not to break rp.
