The day had been eventful, and amazingly, it wasn't over yet. FIrst the finding of Deltra's eggs, then racing to find a basket, and finally distributing them and volunteering to take them to the collegium on one of her reports, Taliene was relatively tired. For a post she didn't sign up for, she sure was doing a lot of running around. Regardless, Douglath and L'chlan had been kind enough to oblige her the flight over to the Collegium to ensure her package arrived safely, and so, here she was. The only problem now was, no one knew quite where the Master of the Collegium was! He was over here, no..there! The end result had been a wild goose chase with several pots of precious firelizard eggs held close to her chest, "Botheration." Treble was flying about her head once more, ever the loyal scout, when she finally managed to locate Sayer. Standing in the doorway to where he was, she knocked on the frame, hoping to garner his attention without causing too many problems for the man, "Master Sayer?"

Sayer was bent over a workbench and made a grunt of acknowledgement when he was called for. A variety of objects were scattered about the table. Most of the tools were meticulously aligned with one another. A few random objects were included. A fat candle beneath a glass cover, what appeared to be a bellow, but smaller and a crank sized for a human hand were among the most noteworthy of the commodities. A blue firelizard darted out from under the workbench and took up its place behind Sayer’s legs, peeking out at the intruder with an exceptionally dour expression affixed upon its small face. It kept its attention focused on Taliene. The coggler seemed to be engrossed with a mechanism of indeterminate purpose. He was hunched over it and a few of the lenses on his eyepiece were flipped down. A moment would pass before he would, without looking up, utter, “Yes, what did you need?” At this point Spring would lower his head as if the flitter were becoming agitated.

Taliene knew she should have been used to this, or rather, get used to this. She had been informed about Sayer's tendancies to be incredibly involved in his work, and had seen it on more than one occasion. The Harper had seen worse though, and she wasn't going to let his dedication to his work stop her duty to both her Hall, Weyr and the Collegium. Caught between duties as she was, life was indeed going to be frustrating. When the little blue focused his attention on Taliene, her bronze lizard wrapped his tail about her neck and trilled in reply, bobbing his head before staring at the other lizard intently. Taliene smiled, but quickly schooled her expression as she spoke, "I am Journeywoman Harper Taliene. We've met before, but I'm here to see you about these. I've a gift of three eggs from Bivium for the Collegium, Sir, and I believed it only proper to take them directly to you." She adjusted the pots in her arms lightly, but carefully, as though merely shifting the weight to ease having to carry them as she was.

Once she finished speaking the blue perked its head up and twisted to look up at Sayer, as if it were somewhat surprised, before it chirruped quietly and vanished back beneath the workbench. He exchanged the tool he was currently using for another and continued to tinker with the mechanism before him. This culminated with him pressing the bellow-looking instrument such that air could be heard hissing through it. Gears were clearly turning in the man’s head, but it was hard to discern if it was directed towards his project or his response. Finally, he flipped the lenses of his small-seer up and turned to face Taliene, hands clasped behind his back. He scrutinized her just before speaking, “Yes, I remember you. Am I to assume that when you use the terminology ‘gift’ that there are no expectations of reconciliation? No favors being bartered for? I will appreciated forthrightness, rest assured. He cocked his head quizzically at that point, awaiting her response.

Taliene blinked right when the little blue lizard disappeared. She was surprised, to say the least, but she didn't let that affect her for long. Regardless, she politely waited for Sayer to finish working with the instrument he was working with before he turned around. Rather than reacting when he scrutinized her, she merely tilted her head to the side and responded simply as she could, "Well, sir, I would rather be honest with you about it. It's more simple that way. The gifts are as termed. They are eggs from a clutch given by green Deltra, who looks to a young Syreaka, a candidate at Bivium." The harper cleared her throat a bit as her bronze analyzed Sayer with a critical eye, tilting his head every which way before Taliene continued, "No favours, no marks. She didn't ask for anything in return. I believe the best phrase would be a 'Gift in good faith', though that was not stated, and purely my own assessment. To be honest, I believe the girl is more concerned about getting them homes they'll be cared for well in over the Collegium's gratitude. She didn't charge anyone there anything in trade either."
