L'chlan was shaken from his thought of excaping the rapidly crowding room. It was Syreaka who'd interupted his plans and he turned to her with the tugging sense of curiousity. She didn't seem about to restart their spat... Well, whatever L'chlan had been expecting from Syreaka, it wasn't an offering of one of the firelizard eggs. His brows raised in questions then almost immediately furrowed as he opened his mouth with an automatic reply. He caught himself however, and his jaw snapped shut as he seemed to rethink his response. He let her turn to take care of other people as he took in her question with serious consideration. Lucia chirruped from his shoulder, giving him the eye.
Well... what could it hurt? Lach figured the worst outcome would be that Lucia would have someone to distract herself with other than himself. And that would be very, very relieving. That was that, then, he assumed. He waited until she had a free moment once more before speaking up. "Despite your... lapse in judgement today--" that was the nicest way he's ever say that, "-- your handling of the clutch is... generous. I would be pleased to have one." Should he follow that up with a compliment?
He was saved from having to mull over that by spotting Seldrimme at the edge of the crowd. "Ah, Syreaka," he grabbed at the distraction and motioned for Seldrimme to come over, "This is one of the newest candidates, Seldrimme."

Syreaka was outright thrilled. It wasn't just that these eggs are going to homes, but they were going to places that people really wanted them to be. These people, one, she knew would take care of them. Two, her choices in where they went were bound to confuse people, particularly since she wasn't charging anything for them. However, what want did she have for Marks at the moment? It truly didn't matter for her in the end, she could work to earn more. There was something much more valuable at hand occuring. Handing one pot after another, she'd checked each before giving them away. That was when she noticed the approach of a woman nearby. The smile on her face caused her to blink, and Syreaka knew right off that this was a woman she had never seen before. She blinked, but it was when L'chlan spoke that she blinked, unsure if she should be offended or not. She stared at him for a moment before she spoke, "I'm..not sure if I should be offended or not..." Her voice was as confused sounding as she felt, but she continued, "But, the egg is yours. As I said, I know you'll care for it well. Lucia is evidence of that enough." That was when she watched L'chlan all but pull Seldrimme over, and Syreaka almost immediately smiled at the woman she had yet to meet, "Greetings to you, Seldrimme. As L'chlan said, I'm Syreaka. It's a pleasure to meet you." As she spoke, she handed a pot to L'chlan, ensuring that all was perfectly in place before she handed it over.

Seldrimme didn’t let her soft smile falter even when Syreaka blinked. From the interactions she could tell that Syreaka was more than just a girl that had come across a set of fire lizard eggs. She’d spent enough time in the Collegium to know about pecking order rank, and from what she knew of Dragonriders it wasn’t something that, as a candidate, she was going to able to get away from. It was better to approach with deference and until she could figure out exactly who this young woman was. As L’chlan beckoned her forward she came closer. He seemed relieved at her interruption and she took a peek at him out of the corner of her eye as she moved, her curiosity far from sated. Focusing on the task at hand, Seldrimme maintained her smile and replied, “The pleasure is mine, Syreaka.” Then she nodded her head just a little, a subtle acknowledgement of something, though she herself wasn’t quite sure yet what it was. “It seems your companion has gifted you well with such a clutch of eggs.”

L'chlan met Syreaka's eyes and seemed to be considering a reply when Seldrimme finally joined them. He seemed to mentally shake himsefl of, gave a grunt that said his comment was neither this way nor that and took the egg with a murmured thanks, promising that he would, indeed, take good care of it. Lucia, who had been leaning as far over Lach's shoulder as she could manage and snuffling at the pot, turned her head at Seldrime's arrival and twittered off some sort long, drawn out thought or order at her before staring. Her small, faceted eyes whirled and she tilted her head, snorting and about to go off at the new girl when a large hand wrapped around her and transferred her to the Bronzerider's other shoulder.
"Ignore Lucia, she can be bossy." Lucia nipped at him for his insult as he transferred the pot from one hand to the other and placed his free hand on Seldrimme's shoulder. "Aye, it is. A natural clutch--" he was referring to the donated clutch of Dragon eggs on their sands currently, "-- so soon after taking up residence must be a good sign." More people were arriving in the room and he tried to catch Taliene's eye.
"Harper Taliene, I doona mean to rush you any, but perhaps we should give the room to others interested and head for the Collegium? The Headwoman will probably make a small feast tonight in celebration of the firelizard clutch, so I'd prefer to have us back before then."

Syreaka was looking up at L'chlan, since she was handing him the egg at the time, and took note of what seemed to be apparently consideration. But it was quickly gone with the arrival of Seldrimme's walking closer. She quickly hid a quick of a smile when the dragonrider just plopped the gold firelizard upon his shoulder, letting it fade when she looked over at Seldrimme, "Indeed, it would seem she did. I've never been able to get to her clutches before, so this is a first. Deltra is quite a wonder to me sometimes." The green firelizard trilled loudly, bobbing her head before flying up hop upon the girl's other shoulder, pacing about before settling down, her eyes gently whirling. Syreaka didn't even look up at the lizard, she instantly just pet the creature's flank, and Deltra began to croon. The woman then looked over at the Harper, offering another pot with an egg in it, and said, "Harper Taliene, if you like, you can this egg too. Incase you would like a companion for your bronze friend."

Taliene blinked again, starting to shuffle the egg pots in her arms, ensuring they were secure. That was when the woman looked up at L'chlan and nodded, her smooth melodic voice filling the room, "Of course, you're right, L'chlan. I'm ready when you are. Thank you for the trouble." That was when Syreaka made her offer, and the woman turned about to look at Syreaka in surprise. It took her a few moments to ponder what it was she really wanted to do. Did she really want another friend for Treble? Was it something she had time for? In the end, she didn't have to answer. Treble did. The impertinent little bronze crooned, flew over to where the eggs were and stared at them before turning his whirling gaze up to Syreaka, and back to Taliene before he chirped. Taliene laughed, her mind made up, "I would be honored Syreaka. I'll make sure these eggs get to the Collegium, and I'll accept that one for me with great honor. I thank you, from the bottom of my heart." As the harper took the pot and nestled it in with the other three she carried, she bit her lip before nodding, everything in place. She'd definitely need to stop by her quarters before they took off, but with the happy warble Treble was giving, she was content with it . The bronze flew up to the Harper's shoulders before she glanced around, "Thank you again, everyone. I will see some of you with studies, and others at dinner with the night time songs. Enjoy!" With that, the woman turned around and left the room at L'chlan's urging, saying something to him about quickly dropping her pot off first before they left.

Seldrimme was surprised at Lucia’s chattering. She held still, listening to the fire lizard as though she could understand what the small creature was saying. She found the swirling of the eyes to be entrancing. She noted it in her mind for some dye work she had in mind. It was inspiring. The way L’chlan handled Lucia made Seldrimme laugh - but only in her head. Outside she maintained the same smile she’d had since she’d approached the group. She looked over at the eggs that Syreaka held and was about to speak when she felt a gentle heaviness on her shoulder. She forgot whatever she was about to say. She wasn’t used to people in her personal space. Her family had afforded her plenty of personal space and in this she thrived. This was unexpected. His hand was large… and warm. Ugh. What a distraction. Inwardly she rolled her eyes at herself. This was not the time and place to make a scene, nor to be so distracted. “ It’s not a big deal, anyway, ‘Drimme. He probably doesn’t even realize he’s doing it. Focus.” Seldrimme listened to the comments on the clutch, Deltra’s whirling eyes and cooing, making her smile a little more. She watched Syreaka generously give an egg to Harper Taliene and she peeked in the pot with curiosity as it passed by. “ A celebration for you, little egg” she thought to herself when the talk turned that way. It was bound to be an interesting evening, and she had only just arrived.

Syreaka smiled as Taliene left, the Harper taking an egg for herself as well. That was perfect, for her, and she was glad that it would have a chance to really be what she wanted it to be. One after another, people were taking the eggs to where they needed to go, which was going to make for an easy job for her as well. Smiling encouragingly up at everyone, she then glanced about at those who hadn't yet gotten an egg, "Ariya? Would you like one?" She then looked back up at Seldrimme, and smoothly tilted her head to the side. Watching Seldrimme get closer to the eggs to stare, she pursed her lips. It didn't take much to figure out the woman wanted one, and more so, L'chlan, for all he was frustrating, wouldn't introduce the woman to her in this manner unless he felt her capable. Nodding, she looked up at Seldrimme and smiled, "Seldrimme..." Her voice was warm and smooth, a soft tone to the chaos within the room itself, "Are you wanting an egg as well? I will give you one, if you want one."

Seldrimme listened as Syreaka offered her an egg. Her voice was soft and warm, practiced. This would be a woman to puzzle over while she worked at her weaving. Her face searched Syreaka’s, quiet a moment, thinking this over. Did she want one? She admitted to herself that she was intrigued by the idea. The idea of bonding was a bit unnerving, but each of the firelizards here seemed as unique as people are. Perhaps hers would be a bit more tame. “I would not take one if there is someone more experienced to take care of it. If not, I would care for one, if there is someone who would tell or show me what I need to do. Either way, your offer is kind and generous, considering we have only just met. You have my thanks for your thoughtfulness.”

L'chlan had been paying more attention to Taliene's departure than Seldrimme and Syreaka's conversation at that moment, and nodded in understanding at her plans. "I would have to make a quick trip to my own weyr," he agreed, "But I most certainly could meet you in the Weyrbowl shortly with Douglath." he watched as she turned to leave, "Though I suggest finding a large bag and spare blankets to wrap those eggs in for travel." he suggested lastly, "Keep them as warm as possible." he turned back to catch the tail end of the women's conversation.
"If you want one then this is the perfect opportunity. Syreaka's being kind enough not to charge anything for them. Plenty of people around the Weyr know about firelizard care, including myself and Syreaka, though experience doesna guarantee an Impression. Doona take one if you feel you are no' ready, though, Seldrimme. The decision is yours." he looked down at the pot in hand, "Though I should go take care of my own responsibilities. This needs to be in front of the hearth, and I need to be getting ready to escort Harper Taliene to the Collegium." he nodded to both women, his hand slipping from Seldrimme's shoulder as he turned and strode from the room.

Syreaka quietly watched the interactions between the rider and Seldrimme in interest. It was clear, however, that L'chlan was distracted, particularly when he began to chase after Taliene out the door to quickly get the Harper her ride to the collegium. Nodding silently to herself, she then switched her gaze back over to Seldrimme, "I would not have offered if I did not intend to give you one. It's really quite as simple as that. You can say no, if you are not interested. I am not going to force it upon you, but if you want it..it is yours." And with that, the woman offered a pot with a small egg nestled within it, having just covered the delicate thing with the sand as well as the lid.

Seldrimme watched L’chlan go and stretched her shoulder just a bit as his hand slipped away. She could still feel the warmth of it and she wasn’t sure how she felt about that. He was right, really. This would be the best time and place, if ever. “I would be honored to care for one, Syreaka. Thank you for the privilege.” Here she took the pot gingerly, peeking inside. I must keep it warm, and I’m sure I can do that, between blankets, warm sand and time at the hearth. What else must I do to care for it, and what are your suggestions, if you have time to share them?”

Uh-oh. Rhiskyraenen knew that question - and knew what a mouthful it could be to answer. If he meant to escape politely any time soon, he'd best do it before Syreaka began going over that. Collecting the eggs she'd specified for M'tak and the one she'd gifted to him, he folded them carefully in his arms, sweeping past her and out the door, only to pause briefly beside her and murmur in a low whisper, "My thanks, once more, from myself and M'tak, to both you and Deltra. Your generosity is not unappreciated." Lightly, he patted her shoulder with his free hand, a small gesture of his gratitude expressed as best he could manage with his arm full of egg as it was, before he slipped away to look for M'tak.

She smiled slightly as Rhiskyraenen, nodding, "I'm glad you were able to benefit from it. Please, take it and enjoy." She waited until the man left, glancing at the hand she used to pat her shoulder, and she smiled with a small shake of her head. Well, that went over well. Shifting her gaze over to Seldrimme, she spoke, "Honestly, Seldrimme, it's really quite simple. Keep the eggs warm, turning them when one side gets cold. They'll hatch soonish, so be sure to watch for it..though we have plenty of dragons and firelizards that can probably alert you to the fact. They're covered in sand for that, as I believe you know. When it hatches, have food set aside. They're hungry right off, and if you don't feed them quickly, they'll poof on you and you'll never impress." Deltra chirruped, bobbing her head as if to agree and Syreaka grinned lightly down at her firelizard before continuing, "You have to make them feel welcome. If you're just doing it to do it, it won't work. Feed them til they're full, then stroke them so they fall asleep against you. Raw meat is best, but the headwoman is already aware of that and will have a supply of it for all of us I believe. They'll eat anything though, so just try to keep food on you like meat rolls. Either way though, once you've impressed..I can go over how you care for the babe. I don't want to fill your head with too much right off."

Seldrimme watched the extremely polite man slip away, noting his sudden but courteous departure. Then she focused on Syreaka, listening intently to the advice freely offered about the care of the firelizard egg. Seldrimme nodded slowly, mentally marking each detail in her mind. She smiled softly at Deltra and then said to Syreaka, “Thank you for the information. It is plenty for now, and I assure you I’m not doing it just as something to do. I’ll give the little one the best care I can. If you don’t mind I’ll slip off now to finish getting myself settled in along with the egg. I only just arrived and I think I’ll find a bit of food and then go back and unpack and then warm the egg by the hearth. It was a pleasure to meet you, Syreaka.”
