M'tak was a little nervous. Who could blame him? He was atop a runner that he had possibly never ridden before, or had only ridden once or twice before. A man accustomed to the joys and ease on dragonback found himself a bit awkward. Ever the gentleman, however, he held on lightly before listening to what she said intently, "Yes. He can find wherever I am easily enough. I'm not too worried about that one. He never is." He took a moment to think on his next question carefully, at first taking a moment to get around the urge to joke about it for a moment. Why not be honest? "Well, honestly, Miss Eris? It's my duty to ensure my people are safe. To achieve that, I decided to scout out the area for possible dangers and things to look out for. If I learn what there is, it ensures that I can better watch over them."

It wasn't as though Eris didn't believe him, her brow arched in amusement at his details on his reasons for being in the forests. It had a great deal more to do with his obvious inexperience scouting. She offered a chuckle at him, the beautiful eyes framed with stands of pale gold.
"You came to the forests.... looking for trouble so you could report it back to your people? And without your dragon alongside you." She eyed him with amused incredulity. "Bronzerider, there is nothing in these forests but my people and the same creatures there are in every forest. You have nothing to fear. You should....ah.... probably refrain from scouting further, before you end up killing yourself with your curiosity. My brothers and I know to send any reports of problems to your weyr." Eris winked at him, leaning down to pat Tybarus's neck smoothly, the great black runner slowing to mill at the edge of a sudden clearing, where a small pond gleamed. She balanced easily, turning on the animal's bare back to sit backwards on the runner's shoulders, facing the rider fully with her legs crossed and patting his hand.
"If I were you, I'd leave the protection to those of us with training in it." She smirked as she winked, gesturing for him to dismount

"I explore by hobby. I have experience with it, and honestly, would you want me to allow my dragon down on the pathways where he could tear his wings?" M'tak asked gently, his tone carefully neutral so as to avoid offense given to the woman. Shifting his head slightly, he ran a hand almost self conciously through his light brown hair, "And we were not aware there were people in the forests. Perhaps that is how you prefer it to be, which is fine, but we need to know everything there is to know about the area around us. That is our job." M'tak leaned back, a faint quirk on his lips before he dismounted happily. He really didn't care for runners at all, but this one a nice one. However, her comment about leaving the protection to those who have the training for it caused him to slowly look up at her, "Miss Eris, my duty is to ensure the safety of the people around. Training or not, it is my job to learn what has to be done, and then to see it done." He was somewhat surprised by her reaction to him, but he opted to let it go for now as he nodded his head faintly to her before grinning, "Also...if I am to call my dragon, I'd suggest you dismount. Runners tend not to like them very much."

Eris seemed not to notice or care for his tact, watching as he dismounted before sliding her feet underneath her more completely, jumping to grab a danging branch and clicking her tongue at Tyb, who tossed his head and slipped back into the brush with a knicker. She dangled for a moment, before dropping smoothly into a crouch inches in front of him. She rose slowly, moving like water to meet his eyes, the light emerald green of the sparse clothing fluttering with the warm day's slight breeze. She pondered him for a moment in silence before crossing her arms.
"If you wanted to ensure that your people remained safe, I'd either train them to fight, rather than eat and wait for tithes, or tell them to avoid the forests altogether."
Eris ran her eyes over the man again, her muscles tensing with agitation. These people were so often a nuisance, scaring game and acting superior, as they had in the times of the North. Now that they had been discovered, it meant no small headache for the tribe. They would forever be saving fools from their traps. "I mean no offense, dragonrider, but your people do not belong out here. My people do."

"We aren't here to encroach on your people, Eris," M'tak said frankly. His voice still gentle, he tilted his head slightly to the side as he glanced at her with the same look she was giving to him, "I've been working with my people so that they can learn what it takes to be out here. The trap was my fault, I let Zanylth distract me, and I apologize for the inconvience. The tithing, however, I am reluctant to stop...if only for thread is 3 turns away. In the meantime, though, my own people will help build their own stores. Our people are not as many as you assume us to be." He nodded though, when she said they do not belong out there, "But I do agree that many do not belong out in the forests. At least not until they learn about them as should be learned, instead of trying to trample through." He looked up, taking a moment to glance about, "This place is beautiful and deadly, very much like many things in this world." Oohh..Mickmine, can I come now? I've waited long enough. Has the runner moved? Come on, Zany. I'm safe, you can come meet her.I'm on my way! It's about time. You took a long while to get to the clearing, Mine. The bronze dragon was eager, in an uncommon way, and M'tak didn't have the heart to make him wait any longer, "Zanylth is impatient. He's coming. I pray you don't mind." A thought of pure joy from the dragon shoot through their bond, and it wasn't long before a giant shadow encased the area as the dragon flew in from the sky, his great wings eclipsing the sun for but a moment. Not too much longer, the great brute landed, his giant eyes whirling in excitement before he bowed his head just a bit to get a better look at both M'tak and Eris. M'tak grinned up at him, "Hey there, Zanylth." The dragon crooned, rumbling deep inside of his great throat.

"We aren't here to encroach on your people, Eris,"
"That's probably in your best interest. If people are new to the island, we'll bring our trade and hospitality, as my father's leadership did back in the North. If you meant to take our homes from us...." Eris shrugged, her voice mild. It was difficult for her to understand his presence in this part of the world, and she eyed him warily once more.
"Lets just say it would end well for none of us." Eris nodded, the wild eyed girl offering a tentative smile. She nodded at M'tak's admission of his dragon's arrival and she stepped back, gasping in wonder when a large shadow cast the clearing into momentary darkness.
The dragon was huge, and beautiful, tones of bronze shining as the great creature landed effortlessly, sending Ijit into a chorus of chitters and croons as he darted forward to eye his much greater cousin with glee. She couldn't help but grin, inching closer to offer a hand to Zanylth to.... sniff? Inspect? She wasn't sure what she was doing it for. All Eris could be sure of in that moment was that she wanted to touch that dragon more than anything she'd ever wanted before.
"He is.... amazing." Her voice lilted lightly, the breathless sound of a girl totally enchanted by what was before her.

“Have a little bit of faith. I’m not an idiot…I’m just very trap prone, apparently,” He grinned in a gallivanting manner, his eyes twinkling with his mirth before he turned to look up to the sky. As Zanylth landed, however, the dragon rider’s face turned to a glance of pure affection for his partner, lifting a hand to scratch the eye ridge that was so kindly brought down for him to scratch, “He is amazing, isn’t he.” Yes, I am, aren't I.M’tak smirked before it dawned upon him that Zanylth was speaking to both of them again, “Zanylth, where are your manners?” Replacing where you left yours. Introduce me, Mickmine?M’tak sighed before smiling over at Eris, “As you’ve guessed, this is Zanylth. Zanylth, this is Eris.” The dragon crooned before looking straight at Eris, his great head shifted so as to hopefully not bump the girl, Hello. You know, you're pretty special.“Zany…?” M’tak raised an eyebrow. No, no! Really, she is. You don't see it like I do, but now I'm sure of it. Eris is very special, very very. The great dragon shifted his gaze to look up at his rider, eyes whirling before he continued, You can't tell, Mickmine?M’tak stared at his dragon in slight confusion before pursing his lips together. He apologized to Eris, “I’m sorry, Eris. Normally he’s not this well…out there. That’s typically my job.” The dragon snorted as M’tak continued, “Though, if you want to touch him, you can. He won’t bite you, and if you scratch his eye ridges like you do your lizard’s..if you do…he’ll love it.” Oh..I do love those..
